WPC 2010
News from 19th World Puzzle Championship in Paprotnia, Poland.
We all are back home and we all finally had a good sleep. So it is time to come back in memories and write about what was going on in Paprotnia, Poland.
To those, who are not on the fly with news - from 24th to 29th October we were hosting World Puzzle Championship here, in Poland. You can find some information about that in our news here or on the WPC 2010 website.
The 1st day - the 24th was the arrival day. 105 competitors with their captains, friends and/or families came to Poland. In the evening we had welcome party. Unfortunately I was at that time on my way to the Warsaw airport and back taking 2 competitors to the hotel. But as far as I know - there was nice party that lasted to the night time.
On the next day - 25th October there was a trip for all competitors to the Warsaw and surroundings.
By the time competitors were visiting all nice places arround, we've been preparing meeting for the evening. So called "Questions and Answers". It's obligatory part of every WPC - a part, where everyone can ask every question about the upcomming puzzles, to make sure everyone knows what's to be done.
I have never thought this part of Championship can be so funny from the organiser point of view. For example - we spent like 5 or 10 minutes explaining exactly how roundabout with 4 ways comming in can or cannot be used in solution. Whats so funny? We already knew there will be no such roundabout in the final puzzle! But, of course, we couldn't tell that to the competitors.
It was of course also very important day for myself. It was the day of WhyPuzzles launching. That also led us to publish WhyPuzzles posters, that turned out to be nice way of spending time between rounds for many competitors.
Stay tuned for next parts of our WPC 2010 story comming next days!
Best Regards,
WhyPuzzles Team
